Me and my husband never thought of buying an automatic pool cover. We didn't think about it and we wish we did. Now that we are so ready to move to a new house as soon as we find the perfect one for us, there's no reason to have it. Maybe the soon to be renter can do it if they want to. Our next house will be no swimming pool because we realized that we don't really use it. We are just wasting money for the electricity, chemicals and the pool service monthly fee. Aside from that, the main reason why we don't want a swimming pool anymore is for our daughter's safety.
