How Many Times?

How many times do you have to have a bad experience with a contractor before you stop working with contractors? Apparently for me the answer is about a thousand because I just keep buying house after house that needs to be renovated and every single time I’ve worked with a contractor there have been problems. The first guy took literally three times the time he said he would and the second guy did a really lousy job at the work. The third guy actually took my deposit and disappeared! I called the police about that one. Anyway, this time around I’m just hiring my brother to do a lot fo the work – he’s not a contractor but he’s really good with construction and he can use the extra money anyway. He’s been great about giving me advice on everything from paint colors to cable tv and that’s meant a lot. I can’t remember the last contractor I had who cared about anything other than when I was going to cut him a big fat check!
